    East Africa Cup 2008

The countdown to East Africa Cup 2008 begins.

As East Africa Cup 2008 draws closer, the count-down begins and all preparatory arrangements enter their final stages. The event, taking place 24th - 29th June in Moshi - Kilimanjaro - Tanzania, brings together 49 teams from Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Sudan, Rwanda and Norway. In a nutshell, the event empowers youth through sport. This is done through a unique integration of awareness raising (education), football and intercultural relations. Read more at eacup.org.

Teams getting ready

Even though the draw(s) has not yet been revealed by the organizers, the invited teams are preparing hard for the event. In every successive year in the past, the teams have displayed better game/play quality - 2008 is no exception. That is exciting. Besides football, the participating nations are preparing to display their national cultures by way of entertainment evenings at the event. This is something to look forward to. Educational seminars this year will centre around; Coaching and laws of the game, conflict transformation & reconciliation, volunteerism, interfaith dialogue, leadership, environment, first aid, and networking. Organizers upbeat

The organizing partner organizations (EMIMA, MYSA, NPA, CHRISC East Africa, and CHRISC Norway) are all upbeat about the event and are seeking to make it the best ever in the cup's history. 2008 is the fifth year running that these non-profit organizations with a passion for the integration of sport and development have brought together their efforts in planning, implementing and reviewing the event. A lot has been tried and learnt in the past and is being taken into account in this year's event. The result is expected to be an even better event. Read more at eacup.org.
